Valerie Martin Obituary

Valerie Jean Martin (Ducky) was the second child born to Erma Martin on April 19th, 1970, in Waco, Texas. Along with Freddie Evans they raised a lovely family, Victor Johnson, Valerie Martin, and Freddie Martin. 

She attended Waco public schools for early education and graduated Waco High School in 1988.  She leaves to mourn herson De’Ordrick Brown, her mother Erma Martin and Father Freddie Evans.

She confessed her love for Christ and was under the Watch Care fellowship of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Waco.

After Graduating Waco High School Valerie decided to further her education and attended McLennan Community College (MCC) majoring in Business Administration. She loved her family, and her family loved her back. She dressed herself in the finest of clothes and she loved to accessorize with her jewelry. She loved reading books, watching Tik Tok and she enjoyed watching crime shows. Valerie never met a stranger and was very friendly to everyone. Her smile would light up any room when she walked in. Valerie had a big heart that conquered all and an even bigger personality. 

Most of all Valerie loved being a mother, aunt, sister, cousin, andvery good friend. She encouraged her family to never give up and trust God. She cherished her son and always prayed for her family to do greater in life.

She was proceeded in death by her grandparents Della Mae and Ferman Johnson Sr., five uncles Calvin Holston Sr, Ferman Johnson Jr., Billy Ray Johnson, Lonnie Evans and Merlin Evansand Aunts Carolyn Johnson and Naomi Akers.

On Tuesday morning, August 27, 2024, at Providence Hospital,Valerie reached her destination from this earthly tabernacle.

She leaves to cherish her memory: son, De’Ordrick Brown, her mother Erma Martin and Father Freddie Evans, her brothers Victor Johnson and Freddie Martin, Her Aunt Betty Joe Minor, Her nieces and nephews -Torey Degrate, Shantavia Degrate, Victor Johnson ( Lil Vic), Lexy-Greenwood-Martin, Amber Martin, Dominique Martin, Desiree Whitehead, Freddie Martin Jr (Trey) Deandria Greenwood-Martin, Vic’Tayonessia Johnson, Lyric Martin- Her Great Nieces and Nephews- Ky’Asia Martin, Ky’Leigh Martin, Ky’Niyah Martin, Shyanna Laws, Kiahlani Martin, Emerie Greenwood, Torey Degrate Jr. ( Lil Torey), Travion Degrate, Torianna Degrate, Tren’Asia Degrate – Special Cousins Kimberly Minor-Dostsey, Latonya Minor- Glover, Yolanda Johnson- Simien and Trudy Minor Benjamin- and Best friend Valerie Tisby.

And a Host of other nieces, nephews, and cousins that she lovedvery much.
