Thomas Hittle Obituary

Heaven gains another angel on 06/23/2024. Mr. Thomas Jacob Hittle was born on November 25,1938 to Albert and Martha Hittle in Sioux City Iowa. He married Sharon Douglas Hittle on October 26, 1963. Tom was a gifted musician in voice, guitar and piano and trumpet. He was a South Dakota State Champion Legion League pitcher for Jefferson in the late 1950’s. Following in the footsteps of his older brothers who served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, he joined the U. SAir Force in 1961 and served during the Cold War at a U.S. listening post in the disputed Kashmir region of India/ Pakistan…. borderingthe old Soviet Union. The two countries often came to blows with Tom and his team in the middle of rocket and artillery duels between the two adversaries. He was a man who gave so selfishly by giving his time to help others in the time of need.  He was a volunteer firefighter in Jefferson South Dakota.  He was stationed at James Connely Air Force base. After servicing he was on the CB radio known as Colonel Thumper. He retired from Time Manufacturing after 34 years. I do not think there was a stranger to Tom and he always helped the underdog. He did not care the time or day if a person needed help, he would be there. He was an Asst Fire Chief with Beverly Hills Tx and he also volunteered with the Texas State Guard. The gave his time to the American Red Cross in Waco, and helped thousands in their great need after countless disasters There was not a time dad was not there from our programs at school to our college graduations.  The kids’ friends were daddy’s kids.
