Shelia Dancer Obituary

Shelia Denise Howard-Dancer went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 24, 2024, at the age of 69. She was born on September 28, 1955, in West, Texas.

She was the oldest of six siblings, and was preceded in death by her parents, Charles (Pop) and Bobbie Hardin; father, DeNorise Vonner Sr.; sister, Sonia Hardin; grandparents, John and Mary Howard; Nugent and Roberta Vonner.

On December 24, 1977, Shelia married the love of her life, Willie Charles Dancer. To this union, two children were born:Denetra and Quentin. Her family was her pride and joy, she poured her heart and strength into being a devoted wife, mother and “Mimi.”

Shelia gave her life to Christ at an early age and was baptized as a child at Bold Spring Baptist Church where she became an active member. She faithfully served the church as a Deaconess. Sheila took on many active roles in the church and was alwayswilling to work wherever there was a need. Her faith and commitment to God was the foundation of her life-long legacy.

Shelia graduated from West High School and later attended McLennan Community College. She worked at Cox’s and PMSI before becoming a full-time dedicated homemaker taking extraordinary pride in caring for her family. She had a unique sense of style and an exceptional eye for design, often transforming a house into a warm and beautiful home.

Her last words before passing were, “Too Blessed To Be Stressed,” a reflection of her positive outlook on life and deep connection to blessings and God.

Shelia will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire all who knew her. She  is survived by those who will cherish her memory and celebrate her life: her husband, Willie Charles Dancer; daughter, Denetra Dancer (Nicholas); son, Quentin Dancer; grandchildren, Skylar and Justice Randle; sisters, Shirley Hardin, Monique Hardin-Gregory (Greg), Mary Hardin-Green, Imani Johnson (Dontaye)and sister in love, Darlene Graves-Iglehart (Alfred); brothers, Roderick “Peter” Hardin (Melissa), DeNorise Vonner Jr. (Duana); nephew, Tracey Green II; niece, Brooklyn McAdams (Virgil); great nieces, Harleigh and Journee McAdams; and a host of loving aunts, uncle, relatives and close friends, all of whom she loved and appreciated for helping her during her long battle with cancer.

We would like to thank Texas Oncology, Dr. Carl Chakmakjian and Dr. John Matthews, and all their staff for the attentive care provided.
