Robert Curtis (Ben) Benford, 78 years of age,passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024 after a brief battle with cancer.
Robert, the eldest of four children, was born on February 9, 1946, in Lambert,Mississippi to Matthew C. Benford and Irene Jones. He was raised in Shelby, MS and was educated in the Bolivar County School System. He graduated Broad Street High School in 1965 and joined the military shortly thereafter. He served 24 years in the United States Army and retired as an Army Sergeant in the Army Signal Corps.
He is preceded in death by his father, mother, maternal grandmother (Paralee Jones), and a brother James Jackson. He is survived by three sisters (Barbara Ann, Rosa and Tina), two brothers (Freddie and George), 7 children (Cornelia, D’Arcy, Demond, Brandi, Lance, Robert III and Kristopher) and 3 token children (Sophia, Hermann and Coy) along with approximately 15 grandchildren and a host of other family, friends and loved ones. His legacy shall definitely live on.
