On December 27, 1947 Alton C. Oliver and Ruth Howlett Oliver welcomed their first born child Phillip Eugene Oliver in Waco, Texas. Phillip grew up to be a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather and a cherished great grandfather.
At a young age, Phillip joined Goshen Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Hallsburg, TX where he remained a faithful member throughout his life. He served as an elder in the church and wasalways ready to pray, lead Bible study and share God's word. Hecontinued as a member until his passing.
As a young man, Phillip was often seen riding around Waco on his motorcycle, or cruising in his fully restored classic Chevy or Mustang. After graduating from A.J. Moore High School in 1965, he joined the United States Navy. His service took him to Alaska, Japan and San Diego. While stationed in San Diego, he met his future wife, Evelyn Young. Upon his honorabledischarge from the Navy, Phillip and Evelyn returned to Waco and were united in marriage. There union was blessed with one son. Anthony Eugene Oliver. Phillip and Evelyn were married for over 40 years until Evelyn’s passing.
Phillip went on to work for the United States Postal Service, where he remained until his retirement.
Phillip loved travel and fishing and bought an RV to enjoy these hobbies. His lifelong passion for motorcycles never faded. Phillip often liked to diagologue about the current political trends. However, above all, Phillip loved the Lord. He daily sought out opportunities to pray, discuss God's word and spend time in devotion.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents Alton and Ruth, his beloved wife Evelyn and sister, Gloria. He is survived by his son Anthony Oliver of Waco, grandson Marcus Oliver (Mikaela)also of Waco, great grandsons Troyce, Kendall and Kai. He also leaves behind his sisters Patricia Oliver (Waco); Sheryl Oliver Harris (Burleson, TX); brother-in-law James Harris, Jr (Burleson); nieces Crystel and Cailyn Polk; nephews Ray Polk. Jr and III (Cleburne. TX); a cousin who was like a brother, Frank V. Allen (New Mexico); sisters-in-law Helen, Willie Pearl and Julia Young (Florida) and a host of cousins family and friends.
To our dear loved one we say, “Take your well deserved rest-pain free and in peace, until we meet before God’s throne.”
