Kwi Smitherman was born June 22, 1954 in Pusan Korea to Kun and Yong Yi. She later moved to the United States with her husband of over 35 years, Norman Smitherman.
Mrs. Smitherman was preceded in death by her father.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her husband, mother, two brothers, two sisters, one niece and two nephews in Korea. Along with her two sons James Smitherman and Ethan Smitherman, daughter in law Wendy Smitherman, grandsons Malik Smitherman and EJ Smitherman, granddaughters Aaliyah Smitherman and Destiny Smitherman.
Kwi was an amazing cook. There wasn’t anyone that would forget a dish she made for them. She shared that passion with her grandchildren and they took note. Her oldest grandkids could never make a simple bowl of ramen, she taught them to put meat, eggs or vegetables in it. She would also teach them how to speak Korean, educational things as well as life lessons. While visiting her oldest sons family she would enjoy late night/early morning talks and store runs with her daughter in law, having conversations and taking Snapchat pictures with her oldest grandson, watching Kdramas and playing games with her oldest granddaughter, and teaching and watching her youngest granddaughter grow up. Malik, Aaliyah, and Destiny will share their experiences and memories with their soon to be brother, EJ. Kwi also enjoyed cooking her youngest son, James’ favorite dishes when she would visit him in Houston.
There will be no funeral services for Mrs. Smitherman and the family request no flowers.
