Juanita (Nita) Peterson Jackson McGee

1932-2024

Juanita (Nita) Peterson Jackson McGee (92) transitioned to Heaven on August 29, 2024 with her devoted daughter Opal at her bedside on August 29, 2024.

She was born July 18, 1932, to parents Lannie Wilson Peterson and Willie Peterson Sr, in Mumford, TX and attended school at Blackshear School in Hearne, TX. Juanita (Nita) knew Christ at an early age and attended church at Independence Baptist Church in Hearne, TX and later joined and attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Waco until she could no longer physically attend. Ms. McGee was proprietor of multiple restaurants and bars in Hearne, and she owned and managed rental properties in Waco, TX as a testament to her entrepreneurial spirit. She retired from working as a chef and cook from Hillcrest and Providence Hospital cafeterias. Juanita enjoyed gardening, cooking and watching cooking shows on TV as a hobby

Juanita was enjoined in marriage to William Carl Jackson Sr. To this union are three children: Regenia C, Opal Jean and William Carl Jackson Jr. (Regina H ). She later married Ocie Mcgee.

Her parents, siblings and two husbands preceded her in death. Sisters: Julia Davis and Nancy Peterson of Hearne, TX. Lannie Johnson of Bryan, TX and Hattie Sears of Los Angeles, California. Brothers: Buddy Peterson of Hearne, TX and Willie Peterson Jr, of Bryan, TX..

Juanita is survived by her three children, five grandchildren: Billy Jackson, B.J and Stacy Hammond, Ephriam and Eian Jackson. She is also survived by great grandchildren: Xavier, Sheldon, Kamry, Blake, Adrian Jai and Janavian. Jai Mai is her great-great grandchild. Juanita (Aunt Nita) is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Family members wish to express gratitude and appreciation to physicians, nurses, therapists and caregivers for her care and treatment. Special acknowledgement is extended to her devoted daughter Opal and caregiver "Linda" and Marlo for their unwavering support and care who helped make our matriarch comfortable and treated with dignity. 

Very special thanks and expression of gratitude to Rodney, Abel and Mrs. Thalia K. Williams, Senior Vice-President at Community Bank and Trust for their many years of help and support. The family would also like to thank Rosemary Jackson, her sister-in-law, for her friendship, compassion and dedication.

Gravesite services are scheduled for September 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Greater Riverside Cemetery in Hearne , TX.  In honor of our loved one,  family members request donations to : Heart of Texas Parkinsons and Caregivers Support, (HOTPACS) in lieu of flowers.
