Joyce Lene Rhodes

Joyce Lene Rhodes was a joyful woman and a true soldier for christ. She was also nicknamed "Boonie" she loved to laugh and sing beautiful praise and worship songs. On November 23, 2023 at 7:25am at the age of 70 she transitioned to be with God.

She was born on April 26, 1953 to the parents of Lola Faye Richardson and John Roney who both preceded her in death. She grew up in Kosse, tx as a child and was the 2nd class to be integrated to Groesbeck High School the class of 1971. Joyce met and married Morris James Rhodes Sr. and to their marriage one child was born. Joyce worked at Mexia state school for 20yrs and retired with her associates degree in child management. Later, worked for a group home another 6yrs and retired again due to her health.

Joyce will be remembered for her love for cooking and fishing and hobbies of cards, spades, and dominoes. She could light up any room and she loved and adored her family. Joyce was most proud of all of her grandchildren, she made sure each one was clothed and well-feed. During her life she was an advocate for Christ, a faithful member of Shady Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. C.C Cross until death and later joined Greater Antioch Baptist Church in Stranger Tx under the leadership of Rev. L.B. Perry who precedes her in death.

Joyce is preceded in death by her two brothers-Thomas Ray Richardson, Vem Edward Richardson, grandparents: Lemuel Rogers Lucinda Rogers, 3 aunts: Lillie Rogers, Gertrude Rogers, Dovie Perry, 1 great uncle Abe Smith, 2 uncles Robert Rogers, Frank Rogers.

Joyce leaves to cherish her memory: 2 son(Morris Rhodes Jr)daugher-in law Natascha Simonette) of Waco, Tx ( Corey Rhodes) Daughter-in-law Tracy Eckles)of Waco, Tx (2 daughters (Julia Diggins) son-in-law Reginald Diggins) of Copperas Cove Tx( Rasheta Perry) of Marlin, Tx. 1 adopted daughter (Shamedra Walton)son-in-law Raefel Walton)of Waco, Tx 4 Sisters (Mary Peterson) brother-n-law- Pete Peterson) of Kosse, Tx(Linda West) Fort Worth Tx (Audrey Whitfield) of Rosbud Tx Kelly Walker) of Waco, Tx 1 great-Aunt (Madie Rogers) Dallas, Tx- 2 brothers (Velma Richardson) of Dallas, Tx(Joseph Rogers)of Kosse, Tx. special nephew Byron Rhodes) of Mexia, Tx Grandchildren: Shery!

Yabarra A'mory Rhodes, Corey Rhodes, Morris Rhodes Ill, Jesmar Rhodes, Amiya Perry, Mykiden Perry. She leaves a host of nieces and nephews to cherish her memory. Joyce left a beautiful bouquet of roses in memories and love with us all for her imprint is always in our hearts.
