In Loving Memory of John “Birdy” Herrera

August 18, 1963 – July 27, 2025

John Herrera, lovingly known as “Birdy” by family and friends, passed away on July 27, 2025, at the age of 61. Born on August 18, 1963, in Waco, Texas, John was the beloved son of the late Mike Herrera Sr. and Mary Herrera.

John was a proud and loving father to his two sons, Arron Ivy and Travis Herrera Holder, who were his greatest joy and legacy. His love for them was deep and unwavering. He was also a cherished brother, uncle, and friend to many.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mike Sr. and Mary, and his sisters Amanda Herrera and Victoria Herrera. Left to honor his memory are his siblings: Mike Herrera Jr., Maria Casiano, Carolina Gonzales (husband Mark), Patricia Munoz (husband Louis), and Lydia Amy (husband Robert). John also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly and will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

In his earlier years, John worked in construction alongside his father, brother, and cousins—building not only structures, but bonds that would last a lifetime. He had a gift for making people laugh and a heart that loved being surrounded by family and friends. His presence lit up every room he entered, and his laughter was contagious.

To know Birdy was to love him. His spirit, his stories, and his sense of humor will be missed more than words can express. Though he is no longer with us in the physical, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
