Joe Doyle Lanehart, born in Lubbock on June 17,1947, departed to be with the Lord on Feb 14th, 2024, surrounded by his family. Joe was a father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who brought joy to all who knew him. Joe had a passion for BBQ and enjoyed attending cook-offs and loved people to try his brisket with his secret ingredients that he had applied. He was known for his “deer lease fries”! He loved playing dominos with friends as well as golfing in his younger years. Joe worked for over 30 years at Owens Illinois where he retired.
Joe leaves behind a legacy of love and memories through his family. He is survived by Chris (son) and Amy Lanehart of West Texas. Jodie (daughter) and Chris Scarpulla of Las Vegas, NV and Mary Lanehart (daughter) of McGregor. His grandchildren: Celeste Kochan, Kayla Dorman, Colton Cooper, Chandler Kochan, Isabella Scarpulla, CJ Lanehart, Lucas Kochan, Landon Kochan, Sammy Lanehart, and Grace Scarpulla. Great grandchildren: Jaxon Cooper and Arya Cooper. Brother Darell Lanehart of Abilene.
Joe was preceded in his death by his mother Mary Hayes, father Benjiman Lanehart, and brother Benny Don Lanehart.
In his journey through life Joe touched many hearts with his kindness and gentle spirit. He will be deeply missed and remembered by all that knew him.
